I started to write a "Weekend -in-Numbers" post on the train this morning but I got distracted by all of the Oscar buzz and such, so I thought I'd do a weekend update in rambly form to encompass everything.
Okay first up... My 5k.
Let me sum up the weather for you on Saturday in one word:
FRIGID.
This is how I started out. I was bundled in about 3 layers and did resemble an Inuit before shedding my puffy coat to run. I still had on a tank, a run swiftly tech shit and my Lulu jacket on but I was absolutely FREEZING.
I had signed up for a race in January but due to our one snow storm (and by storm I mean 1 inch of snow) it was cancelled. This was the first re-do option, so I went ahead and took it.
The race was a Eton Dorney, which is where all of the rowing took place during the Olympics. While it was super scenic, it was also SUPER. WINDY.
I'm not going to lie... I pretty much could not feel my feet at all for the first mile. It was like running on ice blocks. I finally started warming up at the halfway point but my nose was running out of control and it was not a cute sight to behold. Luckily I think the cold made me run faster because I ran a personal best!
I still haven't received the official results, but my Nike running app clocked me coming it at 32:28 for the 5k.
I managed to shave off a full 2 minutes from my last 5k. I'll take it!
(It should also be noted that I was one of the last 5k finishers... These people were FAST. I was running right behind a girl up until the middle and then she took OFF. She basically sprinted to the end. Maybe I can get an even 30 next time!)
The rest of the day was spent grocery shopping. All I can say is that Rachel's Organic yogurt is my favorite and it was on offer.
So I bought 4.
Duh.
Sunday marked a truely special day in Chez BP.
It was 5 years ago on Sunday that I traipsed into Starbucks at the corner of Boylston and Tremont in Boston to get a coffee before going home to do my Contracts reading and struck up a conversation with a certain tall, blue-eyed Englishman.
When I woke up and rolled over for my standard morning snuggle, I was handed a card and a little package.
Clearly I cried for a solid hour.
(Hormones, I tell you)
I pretty much bagged a good one, y'all.
Today is my first non-couch potato day using my FitBit and I can't wait to see how I go this week!
Do any of y'all have a FitBit?!
After working for about 5 hours, we settled in to watch Call the Midwife and then headed to bed. Now... by headed to bed I mean, I started checking twitter to see the Oscar red-carpet looks.
Now, for the obligatory favorite dresses.
STOP IT, AMY ADAMS.
Oscar can do no wrong. I need this dress in my life. Where will I wear it? Don't ask stupid questions. Obviously everywhere.
No words for Katniss.
GORGEOUS.
Reese just had a baby and she looks like THAT?!
And don't even get me started with Jessica Chastain.
I can't think of anyone else that could pull off champagne colored sparkles.
Which dresses did I hate?
Zoe Saldana's, K-Stews, and also... I know everyone loved Kerry Washington's bright pink number... butttt I wasn't that into it.
Finally...
Y'ALL.
What is WITH the Anne Hathaway hatred!?
My twitter feed was nothing but a stream of anti-Anne Hathaway tweets from about midnight my-time onwards.
I am not going to lie. I love her as an actress. I think she's brilliant.
However, when I have seen her interviewed?
I sort of get it. She's peppy... She's gushy... She can be awkward.
But you know what?
I think that's why I like her. She's isn't perfectly polished... she embarrasses herself... she gets excited about things that the rest of Hollywood tries to be too cool for. She seems like someone I could be friends with in real life. She speaks in exclamation points and anyone that speaks in exclamation points is someone I can get behind.
Also? She was amazing in Les Mis. I don't care what any of you mean girls say... She brought me to tears and I thought she deserved that Oscar she received last night.
So... tell me, how was your weekend?!
Oscar thoughts?
Are ALL of y'all haters of the AH?!

"Not polished" is one thing. "Completely and totally faux humble" is another.
ReplyDeleteAnne needs to mix in a cheeseburger or two!! TOO SKINNY!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 5k PR!!!! :) That's awesome!! Also, your story of how you and PB met totally kills me. I love hearing of stories of chance meetings that turn into a love story...so amazing!
ReplyDeleteWay to go on your race time! I missed the Oscars this year. Boo!
ReplyDeleteI think Ann pretends to be that way. She drives me nuts too, but not exactly sure why!
ReplyDeleteI loved Jessica C's gold number with her reddish hair. Beautiful. I did like Jennifer A's red number too.
Yayee for the 5K!
There are ways to be gracious and humble without demeaning your talent (see Meryl Streep) and Anne doesn't have it. She's either arrogant and tries to laugh it off or she's faux-shocked and humbled, gasping for air. She reminds me of Julia Roberts. And that's a very bad thing.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise- yes! Rachel's yogurts are the best! I miss them. And the ease of ice cream selection in no rBST/rBGH country... sigh.
I have a FitBit and I love it - so accurate and I really enjoy checking in on my app throughout the day, too. The calorie counting and measuring options are wonderfully reliable as well.
ReplyDeleteAlso, anything coconut is delicious.
I used to love AH but I feel like she has not deserved these awards. She acted in a production that has been done over and over again. She had plenty of people to learn from - whereas other nominees gave life to completely original characters. I think that is why I have not liked her this awards season.
So basically you and I have the exact same thoughts about everything at the Oscars. You named all of my favs and my least favs. I totally agree with you on AH. Her dress was not my favorite but she's a pretty great actress and seems really nice.
ReplyDeleteAnne is smug.
ReplyDeleteAnd she thinks she is cute like Audrey Hepburn, but she is more Liza Minelli.
Ugh.
Everyone thinks her quirkiness is an act...I've loved her ever since I saw myself in her awkward, funny Princess Diaries role but I do sooort of see where people are getting it from. She in no way deserves the bashing, but girlfren's gotta cool it on the "oh my gosh I had NOOOOO idea!" thing. But I love her.
