My New Job: First week recap!

So I briefly mentioned it on Twitter, but I started a new position this week which was SUPER exciting! I'm at the same BigLaw firm but I've taken a giant step upwards on my career ladder and am now have an official "LAWYER" in my title. I moved into a new office and met my new paralegal, who I will henceforth refer to as "my minion."

 

 

 

OK, I'm kidding. He sits beside me and pretty much does the same job as I do (with slightly less actual lawyering) so he's basically my equal... but I told him when I get mad at him (or when I mess anything up and want to blame him instead of admitting I'm an idiot) he will revert to being my minion.

 

(Note: I actually make this face with head tilt. PB confirmed.)

 

 

It's a really exciting move for me. I'm working for a major client of the firm and will be working directly with 3 partners and the client on a day to day basis. This is slightly unheard of for baby lawyers, so I think this has great potential for networking and getting my name known in the firm. (Or, if your glass if half empty, prime opportunity for me to screw up in front of ALLTHEPEOPLE all at one time... NO PRESSURE.)

 

 I am still in the dispute resolution (aka litigation) department but I have moved sub-groups. This position comes with a steep learning curve but luckily I'm shadowing the girl I'm taking over from for the next two weeks, so hopefully I can hit the ground running confidently when she leaves. (Annndddd hopefully I mean LORDLETUSPRAY that I don't fall flat on my face the Monday after she leavesssssss.)

 

BFF Blair also started a new job this week (YAY!) and chronicled her first week in outfits. I shall do the same this week... What a great idea! I love seeing what folks wear to work.

 

(And let's be honest, I'm wayyyyyy more likely to put some effort in if I know y'all are going to be judging moi.)
