So haaayyy there... SOMEONE GOT A FACELIFT! And that someone is this here blog.
What do you THINK!?
I love it. Bobbi and I are still fixing the kinks (aka I need to get her some links and such) but hopefully by tomorrow it'll be all up and running and I will ALSO HAVE A FACEBOOK PAGE!
I know.
Shit is getting RULLLLL up in hurr.
Without any more delay... Behold! Date night!
Before our date we picked up our custom mats for our vintage french prints and I forced PB to put them in the frames so we could see if they fit.Obviously I'm in love with them.
(and obviously they are still sitting in the corner of the dining room waiting to be hung.)
(Whoopsie.)
After Paul had a snuggle with his helper, I got all dolled up and clearly needed to take a selfie...
Because how often is it that I bother with makeup and fixing my hair anymore?
Answer: Rarely.
Also... Please note my cute husband.
The decor was all british vintage cozy and I absolutely loved it all... Especially this patchwork toile chair and clock.
Clearly booze was required... CLEARLY.
Goat's cheese crostini for me... Garlic mushrooms for the hubs.
Please note the amount of goat's cheese I was given.
THIS WAS THE SMALL PORTION.
For my main I had the venison wellington.
It was good but the pastry was tasteless cardboard. I ended up fishing out the venison portion and leaving the pastry.
Paul got a steak and ale pie... Again, the pastry? AWFUL.
Clearly they need a refresher on pastry making... and/or a good trip to get some Jus-Roll pastry from the grocery store.
But what was the best part of the entire meal?!
THE STICK TOFFEE PUDDING WITH GINGER.
We fought over every last spoonful. Seriously... I can never say no to the sticky toffee pudding. It is the BEST English dessert on the planet.
The atmosphere and the building were SO perfect, even if the food was less than delicious.
We ended the night with a little Scandal in bed on the iPad.
Let us discuss: HAVE YOU SEEN SCANDAL!?
(Am I the only personwho loves typing in caps?! No?)
All in all it was a fun evening but I doubt we'll be back to the Star Inn. It was cute, but it is in Newbury and we have a much better local pub that is just as cute to hit up when we are in need of a little British grub.
Now tell me... DO YOU LIKE THE NEW BLOG DESIGN!?
Give me feedback!

Hey Melissa, congrats on the lovely new design! I love the colors -- big fan of pink & black combos. The only thing I would suggest doing differently is the font for the top categories menu (about, bookish, at home, etc.) It's a little hard to read. Other than that -- looks lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the design--very pretty, fresh, sophisticated, yet friendly and inviting (if that makes any sense...). I can't wait to see what you do with your new web presence!
ReplyDeleteVery yummy food and great decors too. Looks like you really had a good time. That's what the holidays are for anyway. :)

1. BIG fan of all things pink and glitter so clearly love the new design.
ReplyDelete2. Scandal is one of the best shows on TV. first of all, Kerry Washington's wardrobe is TDF. the winter finale was INSANE. I had to watch it twice to make sure I caught everything. I really hope Fitz pulls through. Ugh, great great show.
